Neohumanism

PROUT is based on an an expanded conception of humanism called "neohumanism", which derives its inspiration from an awareness of the interwoven and interdependent nature of all life and all being. When we accept that our destiny is intertwined with that of all people and of the biosphere, it becomes impossible to identify narrowly with group interests - whether they may be of a regional community, an ethnic group, a nationality, a religious group, or a race. Instead, an outlook arises in which the inherent value of all people is recognized and there is concern for the well-being of all people. And as humanity's existence is also intertwined with planetary life as a whole, neohumanism does not limit its scope to the welfare of human beings but also recognizes the existential rights and welfare of all living beings. Neohumanism provides the only viable value base for the planetarization of human culture and for a sustainable approach to development.
