Was held in the last weekend of August. From the original 9 trainees 7 graduated passing the Ananda Sutram-exam; Arunima, Harapriya, Mohinii, Radha, Sandhya, Vanamala and Kavi. Hopefully we will see a few new acaryas in Finland in a few years.

Yoga Teacher Training

We finished our first 6-day module of the 4th Finnish Yoga Teacher Training, that will take more than a year. We have 19 women, one of them Estonian. They are a harmonious group, motivated and moving nicely together. We ended the first module with a hilarious evening program arranged by the students.

International Midsummer Retreat in Frantsila

The traditional midsummer retreat was held in Frantsila Wellbeing Center in Hameenkyro. In spite of the rainy weather it gathered 35-50 people, some of them visiting. There were many young people and a guests a.o. from Norway, US and Turkey. The Midsummer Eve program included mini plays telling some educative stories directed by Vanamala, visit of a local singer group, oriental dance. One day we went to the Museum Sanctuary in Suodenniemi spending the day in nature walk and visiting a special exciting place called Demon’s Rock and attending the traditional smoke sauna. In the evening our special guest Dada Hiranmayananda told touching stories of his time in prison in India during the ban of Ananda Marga. The last day was sunny and warm, and we had a lecture about Baba’s comments of the global economic crisis and its cure and positive future visions. All joined the kiirtans making them strong and vibrating.

Women’s Retreat

We had a women’s retreat in June with a few young women, not all initiated. Program included presentations and discussions about Baba’s ideas of feminine mysticism and women’s role in the world. We had also workshop on making a Goddess masks and taking “empowering photos”. Late at night we had a Women’s Full Moon Ceremony in a forest clearing. The women were inspired and one of them expressed that the weekend raised strong feelings in her, she realized that being a woman does not mean to be weak, and that femininity is not something to be avoided in the world. She thought she got a new direction in her life.
