All is Love
Human life is a journey, a movement and a search. There can be no human life where there is no movement. Where there is no movement there is stagnation and death. Human life requires movement. That movement is of two types, movement towards the supreme and movement away. The moment in consciousness where movement ceases, where even sattvaguna becomes passive and the pure light of Purusha shines is not a state of stagnation. It is not a state of death. But that cessation of movement is a different matter altogether. That is life divine. Human life requires movement. In the movement of human life, those movements away from the supreme entity are those thoughts, actions, and those reactions of mind that bring one ever closer to the material world and remove them from remembrance of their spiritual nature. In that movement, there may be many material successes. One may gain name and fame, power and prestige. One may enjoy many worldly achievements but as long as the object of one's heart is the development of these worldly achievements, one is not likely to see the sweet smile of Parama Purusha in one's innermost soul. One is not likely to feel the blissful wave of divine love for one is too busy having success in the material world and enjoying counting one's dollar bills or one's new houses and so on.
The happiness that comes from material success may bring a certain temporary sense of well-being to the mind but it cannot sustain the human spirit. Should it lead to greed, corruption, and acts of harm to others, these become harmful to all involved and degenerate the mind farther away from sweet ideation upon the lotus feet of the supreme. The other type of movement is away from this degeneration of mind into matter but is evolution of mind into more and more subtle spheres of experience. Essential to the very concept of evolution is movement. Evolution means movement from crude to subtle. Even in Darwin's evolution, the species are moving from a more crude to a more subtle state. They are evolving to more intelligence and consciousness. In human life, this evolution continues but it is not so much biologically in the span of a single lifetime. It is more mentally and socially in human society.
When the hearts of people are strong, when their spirit is rich, when they can feel spiritual love, the generosity the kindness to others, then human society becomes healthy. To have a healthy human society, one must foster this type of spiritual movement in the minds of those within the society. That is why I direct you first and foremost to do spiritual service at this time because in this society, there is material wealth but there is always fear of loss of that wealth. There is political aggression.
One must ask, "What is at the source of these social problems and where is the solution?" The problem is spiritual. The hearts of human beings need to associate in love with the supreme. They need to inculcate his ideation and take his love as the approach in their life and to inculcate his compassion, his care for all beings into their own lives. Then and only then with this approach of kindness and compassion can the ills of the society, the excess materialism which has oppressed the human spirit, be resolved.
Take this opportunity to find always movement from the crude to the subtle and to the sublime. Let him be your shelter in the night. Let him be your bright star. Let him be your rising sun and let his warmth surround you throughout the day. Take him as your shelter, your home, your haven and there find what you need. You can search the world over, make pilgrimages to Mecca, bow to the East and do many observances and yet you will not find him unless you open your heart to him and cling to him night and day. He is in Mecca, yes, but he is also here now in your own heart. Never lose his association. Cling to him through thick and thin. When it is good, sing his praises. When it is a hard time, hold onto him. Let him be your protector and maintain ever your association through the depths and regularity of your sadhana.
