About Marriage
March 1992
In a marriage there are two factors of importance. The first is mutual love and mutual respect. Without this a marriage becomes a mere social institution and many problems can and do develop. The second factor of importance is the willingness of both parties to advance together through thick and thin. Without this commitment, when the way becomes a bit rough, all is lost. So both of these factors are necessary for a successful marriage. If mutual love and respect are not present there may be excess conflict, anger, and disappointment. For whatever the reason, if this ingredient is missing marriage will not be successful. It may continue if commitment is there, but it will not be successful. If these are present in the beginning but due to difficulty they are lost, then success goes down.
As for my system, it is based on these two factors. If love and respect cannot be felt, system cannot be followed. Marriage becomes intolerable due to emotional reaction. Dissolving a marriage is a great loss for both persons. It should not be done without significant forethought and good cause.
