Women and The Changing Ages
November 21,1990
Today Ba'ba' spoke to me of women, of their natural potential, of the flaw of the feminist movement, of the time in the world when the mother and the feminine ruled, of the onset of male rule, of the problem with this, of the need of the feminine, of women, and of the need of the return of the mother to lead human society. He also spoke of tantra and how it works with the potentials of both men and women.
Ba'ba' spoke first regarding the feminine form. He said that the feminine holds great potential in the ability for self-surrender, birth and nurturing. He said that this is the source of female greatness and potential.
He was somewhat critical of the feminist movement, saying that they miss this point. That the hearts of women are injured, so they turn from their husbands and withdraw from their natural inclinations. He said that they turn instead to compete in the mental sphere. He said that in this sphere, they are just as capable, if not more capable, as the male, but the problem lay in that they have constricted their hearts by inhibiting their natural inclination to surrender. This has happened due to the abuse of the male of the feminine gift.
He then spoke of a time not too distant in the ages of the world when the feminine dominated human society, when the Mother was great. He said that in that time, women were aligned. They understood their potential and their greatness. He said that in that time society was dominated by the nurturing of the mother, that the men were in awe of the mother and of feminine greatness. He said that in that time a male took a young girl to him, accepted her surrender to him, but did not abuse this gift of surrender. He said that the men then stood in wonder at her potential, that she then became the mother, the Great Mother, giving birth and nurturing the young. He was in awe of her. It was the age of the Mother.
Then slowly over time, the male began to feel self-importance and pride that the feminine surrendered whole-heartedly to him. He began to think himself important. In his egoistic state, he began to lose understanding of the greatness of the gift that was being given. He began to take advantage of the feminine quality of self-surrender and to lose regard for the mother, thinking in his egotism that she is but his property. The age of masculine dominion brought this. It brought with it also the age of reason, of the mind, of the ego, of issues of dominance and territory. It brought with it war and destruction. The Mother no longer ruled with her nurturing. With her downfall this occurred.
Through the abuse of the male, due to his self-importance, the feminine began to rebel, to shrink away from the male. Women have begun to constrict their hearts to avoid exploitation, and so feminism has arisen. Women have turned from men, from their exploitation. But in doing so,they have closed their hearts, shrunk themselves and become confused about their nature. Their true potential has become lost to them.
There is a need for women to return to their natural way, to men who will not exploit them. There is a need for them to understand their greatness in their capacity of surrender, their capacity to open their hearts in self-surrender. This is feminine greatness. Through this they become the Mother, the Holy One who nurtures all of creation. That the Mother has lost status has brought great suffering in the world. Women must discover their true nature and potential so that they can bring the Mother again to dominion over human society. Then again the nurturing nature of women will dominate the world and peace will result.
