PROUT: A New Approach to Socio-Economic Development

Gyani Zail Singh, former President of India, proclaimed that, "P. R. Sarkar was one of the greatest modern philosophers of India." Professor Johan Galtung, winner of Right Livelihood Award (alternative Noble Prize) and co-founder of the World Futures Studies Federation, expressed a similar view: "Sarkar will probably stand out as one of the truly great thinkers in this century, so much deeper and more imaginative than most. He is an intellectual giant of our times."

One of Sarkar's greatest contributions was his Progressive Utilization Theory, or PROUT, a comprehensive and synthetic new philosophy of socio-economic development. Mark Satin, author of New Age Politics and former editor of New Options, said that "PROUT is an explicit and coherent alternative to Marxism and liberalism. PROUT is a synthesis of tantra, socialism, transpersonal psychology, decentralist theory, etc."

Leonardo Boff, the founder of Liberation Theology, regarded PROUT as being "very important for all who yearn for a liberation which starts from economics and opens to a totality of personal and social human existence."

Unfortunately for those interested in progressive solutions to humanity's socio-economic problems, an accessible and comprehensive exposition of Sarkar's PROUT has not been available. Now, however, a new book on PROUT has come out in pre-publication edition. This book has been several years in the writing and is co-authored by Ac. Ravi, one of the most knowledgeable students of PROUT, and Shrii Shrii Anandamurti, as intuitionally received through Ananda Maetreyii.

The book is entitled, "PROUT: A New Approach to Socio-Economic Development." It is produced in a nicely designed, comb bound format. It is very readable and presentable to general audiences. The book is about 480 pages. The cost of printing, binding and shipping (within the U.S.) is $25.
