Architecture and neohumanism

Q: Can you say something about
architectural design in general? What aspects make it healthy and balanced?
Yes yes, I like this question very much. You know there are many
people who feel that architecture is simply to create beauty for the eyes.
Although that is significant, there is a much deeper purpose and much
more meaningful significance to the structure of buildings. When a
building is utilized for living purposes, it must be suitable for a
variety of functions and it must be practical; that is to say, designed
according to the weather and conditions of the particular local. But this
is not all, for a building must be suited to the activities which are to
be conducted within. The architecture must advance this purpose, while at
the same time bringing beauty and culture into the lives of human beings.
In that way the design of a building becomes a creative expression that is
adapted to the needs, longings and the conditions which it will fulfill.
So it is both an expression of culture and beauty and it has practical and
utilitarian capacities.
Now there is another factor which may be
considered in architectural design and building construction, and that is
the adaptation to electromagnetic polarities and energies generated within
the earth and its electromagnetic field. If the building is aligned in a
certain way, it [has fields that yield certain types of results]. You know
there are those who like to live in a round domicile and those who live in
a rectangle, and then there are pyramids. Why so many shapes? Why is one
shape preferable at one time in one place and another preferable at
another time in another place? They are not the same. And if you sit in a
dome, in a rectangle, in a triangle you notice that there is a difference
in how they feel. That they are not the same, that each one is focusing
due to the planes and angles of the construction; they are focusing the
energies about them in different ways. And if you pay very close
attention, you will notice that it is not only a matter of which shape is
utilized but also how it is constructed, on what type of ground it is constructed,
because of the flow of energies, electromagnetic energies will vary
depending on the composition of the rocks beneath the house and in what
direction it is constructed, in what angles, and what rooms are used, this
is a science, and what rooms are used for what purpose. All of these
things maybe analyzed so that you might construct a building that will
increase the amount of psychic energy or spiritual energy within the frame
and there are many ancient temples, ancient places of worship that have
been constructed with this knowledge from the people, perhaps it was known
and studied or perhaps just through the intuition of the spiritual leaders
this was done. So it is most significant in buildings or domiciles which
will be utilized for meditation and for spiritual purposes. But even in
the home, even in the office building it may be open if to consider these
factors. All right?
Q: Is it worth to try to heal the present
city structure by increasing natural elements like parks, or to establish
a completely new planning policy and a new city structure for a
neohumanistic way of living?
This is a very good question. The present city structures will not
exist in one hundred years, they will be all but gone due to climatic
changes and other factors. So this question is not relevant. But there is
another issue, and that is, in what formation would it be best that human
beings of the future construct their living arrangements. And I would say
that it depends first of all upon utility, what is most practical for
those people. But I do not see that they will construct cities of the
magnitude presently existing. They will live under the trees and they will
consider them to be friends. They will blend their architecture in with the
elements; say that the 500-year-old trees on the living quarters and roadways
of the human beings all go together in a nice way. No one will want to harm
any natural habitant, people will learn in this coming century to be a
part of this world, not to act like a conqueror devastating the planet which
has given them birth. So these cities
we now see have a limited life. That is why it is of little use to discuss
their reformation. It will be quite different in the future. Technology
will advance, but human beings will not be so egoistic as to think they
are the conquerors of this great earth, for she has mighty forces which
she can launch and human beings will learn respect. It will become
the matter of all societies that not a single tree, not a single animal
should be disturbed in the development of the human communities, instead
those communities must be developed and planned so as to become a part of
the Mother. This will be the focus, and architecture will take the turn to
blend with the elements. We will see these communities of human beings
will live very nice lives. Their technology will be more advanced than
present though their lives will be more simple. All right?
