Grace

(1/30/91)

"In the life of a sadhaka, there comes a time when spiritual life is more important than sectarian interests. At this time, neither friend nor family can fulfill the yearning of the heart. At this time, the Supreme Entity must intercede and take the sadhaka for His own. At such a time, no one can comfort, no one can appease the longing of the sadhaka. The sadhaka becomes heart-broken for the Beloved. When such a feeling comes, there is only one comfort: love from the Supreme.

"How does one attain such love? Not by external actions. Not by external prayers. Not by good discipline. One attains the love of the Supreme Entity by His grace. There is no other way. Now you may wonder, 'How can I attain this grace?' It is attained not by what you do or earn. Parama Purusa does not look at your credentials. He only sees your heart. You cannot earn His grace. It must simply be given.

"So what to do when the world has become tasteless and the heart cries for Him? What to do? Accept the pain and give yourself at the feet of your Beloved. Never think, 'I am not worthy.' Never think, ' He has no interest in me, I am nothing to Him.' It is not the case. Surrender your heart at the feet of your Beloved and accept whatever you are given."
