Varna of Eastern Europe - 3

November 12, 1994

Q: Was the overthrow of communist domination in eastern Europe accompanied by a change in varna domination?

Again, there are pockets where this is true. But in the main, for the vast majority of the land in that area, there has been no change and the society remains shudran. They remain peasant societies. The common people do not object to the domination of the ruling people. There has been this conqueror and that conqueror and this leader and that leader for thousands of years, and the people have humbly accepted. But the people themselves have not changed. They have remained a humble people willing to accept these conquerors except in certain areas where the development has been more and the people themselves have come upwards with the changing society. They have become so influenced by the conquerors that they have themselves taken over the varna of the conquerors. Like I have said, this has happened in other parts of the world where the people are conquered, and they themselves became melded into the approach of the conquering people.

But that is only in certain areas. In the main, if one looks at the overall approach of Eastern Europe, the people have maintained their autonomy. In their own varna, they have maintained themselves. When they change, then you will no longer find them dominated by this conqueror or that. You will no longer find that a small section of the society will dominate. You will find that dominance will be by the rule of the common people. They will respect their approach in their government. But, as yet, this in not the case.
