Importance of Ideological Leadership
January 7, 1995
I am wanting to speak on another topic. A Proutist society may not be established as long as there is exploitation of human beings by local governments. It may not be established as long as there is the tendency to value personal prestige and power above the collective good. For a Proutist economic and political system to be developed, there must be the rise to leadership of ideological personages, people who have a commitment to the collective good, people who see humanism and humanitarian values as of utmost importance, people who would not harm the living beings, be they small and insignificant or great and powerful. There must be a rise of leadership of those who have humanitarianism, who have neohumanistic perspective, and who have ideation upon the Great - who would make love the basis of human communication, and who would make a world brotherhood, a world fraternity among all the living beings. There must be a rise to power of those men and those women who have these values. It is essential. And they must find scope for expression among the exploitive forces.
You see, there are those who seek both economic and political power, who seek only their own comfort, their own prestige, their own power, and there are those who seek the greater good. It is a critical juncture, and at this time there are many who are lost in greed and selfishness. Capitalism dominates the world order and with it the acquisition of material wealth is foremost in society. This must change if there is to become established a viable economic and political system which is sustainable.
You may look about you and say "How can it change?" But I say necessity is a great promoter of change. Necessity will dictate these changes because the present system, economic and political, is not sustainable, and being unsustainable it will crumble because it cannot continue. It will destroy itself. You need not destroy it, it will destroy itself. What must be done is to have suitable ideology in place and suitable leaders available to promote the welfare of living beings. If this leadership is developed, if the ideology is developed and disseminated, then the proper seeds have been planted for the rise of a balanced economic and political system. This must be the emphasis for those who would change the course of human history. Do not focus on destroying that which exists. Focus instead on building a positive alternative and bringing forward those leaders who may implement that alternative. These concepts must be made widely available so that, when there is a gap, that gap may be filled by positive approach.
