Developments in Russia

Q: Are developments in Russia leading in a progressive direction or are they leading towards a worse system that was warned about?

Russia is in a difficult position. Those who are ideological must come forward at this time. They must come forward and promote an ideological approach. Otherwise, other forces will dominate. In the vacuum that has been created by the fall of communism, there is both the opportunity for growth and development, and many people are taking this opportunity, and there is the danger that demonical forces, forces based in hatred, based in old feelings of blood feuds, might dominate. Have they not dominated already in many areas? Have not the old and embittered sentiments of the past come forwards to dominate the minds of certain people who have said, "I wish that my state be divided from others. I wish to kill those around them," based on old sentiments, religious differences, and many other factors? The feelings of violence, anger, hatred, old hatreds have come forward, and the people wish to destroy their enemies. These types of mentalities and the kind of totalitarian regimes which promote this kind of nationalistic thinking or old sentiments will come forward more and more should a progressive government not be established.

There may be the reversion to the traditional approaches, to the kind of dictatorship which the tsars represented, in which the people themselves are 99 percent nothing but slaves with an elite class. This could occur in a poverty stricken nation riddled with old feuding wars between one province and another, embittered feelings of hatred, mass poverty, and a few wealthy elite kept in power by a military regime. This is a possibility. It would be a sad occurrence. But when there is no new approach presented, when there is no vitalizing of the strength of the people, old ways return. Communism broke the people from this pattern, but without another more enlightened system, old systems might again form themselves.

So the people of that place must, at this time, be very socially aware and put their all into implementing a progressive ideology and a progressive economy so that they may reap the benefit of a new society and not return to the dismal ways of the past.
