1.1.1 FNS, 1.5.2.2 reincarnation
I will speak tonight about the subject of reincarnation. You know a human being comes to this world for a purpose. No human life is without a purpose, for every human being there is a reason to come at a particular time, to a particular place. It is never without a purpose. So human life must have purpose and each and every human being by dint of their human birth has a purpose to their existence, otherwise they would not have this body at this time. So you see, it cannot be said by anyone that human life is without purpose for there were not a purpose they would not be drawn to their present circumstance. So to discover one's inner purpose is a part and parcel of human life. Now in a human being there is not only the purpose which has been set by the reactive momenta of their samskaras but there is also the purpose that comes with human existence, for each and every human being is a spark of the great fire of eternal life and in each and every human being the flame eternal burns endlessly and so it is the nature, the natural calling of every human being to discover that flame which burns within them. It is their human destiny. So not only does a human being have a life in the world, but they also have a life in the spiritual world, that is to say, they have a spiritual purpose to their existence. So and so might have come to a particular place at the particular time in order to fulfill a certain samskara, a certain destiny which has been set in the past. This gives the context to their life, but within that context there must be expansion into spiritual life, to claim the birthright of a human being. So I would not say that human life is meaningless, even under the most adverse of circumstance. So I would say that no human being should consider their lives to be meaningless, to be worthless, it is never the case. Every life has a value, every man, every woman is great within and it is the birthright of every human being to have the opportunity to discover that greatness which lies within. This is a part and parcel of human life.
Now there is one barrier which can exist to the fulfillment of this purpose in your life and that barrier is self-importance. There are times when human beings begin to feel they are great, they are so successful, they are better than others, because they have achieved such and such or done so and so. This ego that separates one from the unity of all existence is a barrier, it feels I am important, I am great, when some accomplishment has been made and then the same ego, the same sense of self-importance becomes bitter defeat when the circumstances of a person's life turn against them and all goes ill, then the same little ego feels, I am nothing, I am worthless, who am I, I am nobody, my life has no meaning. This lack of meaning, this worthlessness and this pride of accomplishment are all the qualities and characteristics of the little ego, the small 'I' and it is due to the vanity of the small 'I' that the human beings are unable to realize the great within them. That is why I say it is the first barrier and the foremast barrier to spiritual life.
To remove this barrier, this little ego which feels self-important
and self-diminished, there is one thing which is most helpful
and that is to surrender that little 'I' to the supreme divinity
which lies within you, to take the little person and all of its
attachments to name and fame and to self-diminishment and give
it away, give it at the feet of the divine effulgence which is
within the core of your own being, then you will find that you
have found true freedom, freedom from the constriction of identification
with success and failure, freedom from the delusion of your own
separateness. In this freedom comes true happiness and with this
from the bondages of the mind and body.
Are there any questions?
Nick; Baba I am curious how we appear to you, how do you
perceive us?
Baba: For you, there is one person through which you experience and perceive and through that person you find awareness of the world around you. Do you not? But this receptacle is only one. A mere myriad of receptacles like the grains of sand on the vast shore, so the Infinite sees through the eyes of all creation, from the smallest little ant that crawls on the ground to the great bird that flies in the sky, to the silent tree on the mountain's side. All are the eyes and ears of Parama Purusha, He is the witnessing entity of all creation and so what is seen with the eyes of each and every being is witnessed by Him, what is heard with the ears of each and every living entity is heard by Him and there is no one and nothing that is outside of His view. So for Parama Purusha the entire universe, both manifest and unmanifest lies within His view and all are His children, all are dear to Him, all are near to Him, they are so close that you cannot tell any difference for all are His own expression. And so when one takes the view of Parama Purusha, this is the view that is seen.
Hm.
