Divine Love II

June 4, 1995

Tonight, I will speak upon the topic of divine love. When coming near to Parama Purus'a, there are certain trials and tribulations which a human being might experience. They might experience that there are times when their meditation is very dry, times when they feel, "Though I have a great fondness for the Supreme, I do not feel Him". There are times when these feelings may come and may stay for long periods. There are times when the feelings come "Though I want to know God very badly, it seems impossible to me." These feelings may come along the spiritual path. They may even be dominant for an extended period. But if the Sadhaka, through all of these tests, remains firm in their ideation, and continues to want to know God despite these difficulties, these trials, then it is bound that the situation will come when this blockage will be broken. Because, you know, mind is a very malleable substance and, when it is directed in a certain fashion, in a certain direction, it will go in that direction. So if you direct your mind, if you direct your attention, you say, "Lord, I want to know you", then you are bound to know Him. You are bound to come in contact with the Supreme Being. You are bound to come in the sphere of that Entity sooner or later because the intensity of your own desire will bring you forward. It will be the momentum on which you move. And so, if a period comes in which you do not feel any communion with the Divine, still, if the desire is there, this will not last indefinitely. It will break apart. So what is the foremost factor in spiritual life? It is longing for the Supreme. That longing, that desire to know God, will bring you to the very door of heaven.

But to develop that desire, you must cultivate sweet and sentient thoughts, pure feelings and love for the Supreme. Those things will increase your desire to know God. And if you would know Parama Purus'a, if you would know the Supreme Consciousness, you must also be prepared to know your own self, to come very close to your innermost self and to accept and to love that innermost self within you. Because, in your very own existence lies the door to the Infinite, in your own "I" feeling lies the key to unlock the door of all creation. For the very same witness that knows your existence, knows the existence of this entire cosmos. So know the one within to know all. And from that one, you will gain the wisdom of all the ages. But to know the self within, to know the greatness that lies within you, you must have what? You must have a strong desire to know Parama Purus'a. And to have this desire, you must cultivate love, cultivate surrender, cultivate sweet and sentient thoughts, pure feelings and an open and sincere heart. These things will help you in your spiritual journey.

[Note: there is no question or context to precede the following advice]

Now regarding the question that was asked previously, I would say something. This problem may be cured. It is not incurable but there are two requirements. One is that there is rest for the hands. If there is soreness, it cannot heal unless there is rest. Second requirement is that there is some form of healing. That is to say some type of massage. A very specific massage which requires the activation of pressure points to relieve the nerves. Also, clove oil may be applied to remove nexus where the pressure point, the nerve focal point is located. Just a single drop on that point. These things will help.

Q: What kind of doctor will know where the pressure points are?

Yes, you go to the doctor, the acupuncturist or the massage therapist.

[Nirmegha: I'm getting the word shiatsu in my mind. But there must also be rest.]

Q: How long?

[It will be cured, perhaps six months and then you can return to this kind of work. There must be rest from all strain. It may be used but not strained.
