nature of consciousness
...Projection of the Cosmic entity. And who is the witness of all the different types of experiences? It is none other than Parama Purusha for there is only one witness to this entire manifest universe and it is the supreme Purusha, that divine consciousness is witnessing every aspect of this creation. There is no movement which occurs which that divinity is not associated with, for He is the witness of all expressions, be they great and noble or heinous. He is witness to all, witness to both your joys and your sorrows. He is with you in your happiness and in your suffering, both, the same. For Him pleasure and pain are no different, they are only the different colors of this created universe, but that which is the witness of all of these experiences is untouched, unmoved by all of the experiences which are witnessed. So the supreme Purusha, witnessing all of these pleasures and pains of the manifest universe, all of the many different types of experiences which exist, is neither bound, nor influenced by these experiences. He is only in association with them as the witnessing entity, He is the witness of this manifestation. So He is intimately associated with all creation, but He is unbound. In that He does not suffer the consequence of action for He is only the witness of the action. He does not associate with doership.
So if you associate your consciousness
with the witness of your existence you will find ,though the pleasures
and pains of life may swing you one way and then another, you
will find equanimity behind this polarization of experience, you
will find equanimity that cannot be disturbed and that equanimity
lies in the witnessing consciousness of all experience, for in
that witnesship there is peace. The supreme Purusha is ever internally
reflected consciousness, is aware, witnessing this manifest universe,
but always self-aware. And if you identify yourself with this
self-aware consciousness you will not be the victim of any circumstance.
For you will be beyond the taint of such experience. You may witness,
you may watch yourself undergoing various experiences, you may
enjoy and you may suffer, but your association, your identity
does not lie in joy or in suffering. It does not lie in limited
association, your identity lies with the underlying consciousness
which the wellspring and the witnesship of all existence. And
thus identifying yourself, you become beyond the push and pull
of mundane experience. You become in the world but not of it.
So find reserve of inner peace which lies within you and place
your identity in that witnessing consciousness.
